Support Future Leaders in Space Exploration, Earth and Space Sciences; Environmental Technology Innovation, and Public Policy

To honor the victims of the recent tragedy in Tucson and their families, we have started a fund in Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' name to support future leaders in space exploration, earth and space sciences, and policy.  In her 112th Congress swearing-in speech, Gabby talked about the need for strong, effective collaborative leadership. She also has discussed and demonstrated her commitment to space exploration, earth and space science, environment and sustainable technology innovations, as well as public policy that benefit our communities and the nation as a whole. 

Gabrielle is to administer the fund, which is intended to help develop America’s leadership in these critical areas through a range of activities, sponsorships, scholarships, and support for students.

Now more than ever, it is a time for each of us to reflect upon and take the steps to actuate her words:

The Gabrielle Giffords Earth and Space Leadership Fund was started by friends and supporters of hers from the Space, Education and Environment community and from the individual efforts of the people of Tucson, Arizona and throughout the world.  We are grateful for the positive outpouring of support for her, and the other victims of this tragedy and appreciative of all who are helping create a lasting tribute.
